Making It Little

In order to say that something is smaller, we can use "diminutive" forms of the word. A diminutive is when a word is changed so that it conveys a meaning of 'smallness'. In Sairupanese, you can use a diminutive to describe nouns.

To describe a noun ending in [a] as ‘little’ change the [a] at the end of the word to [-ɛsd]. For example, to describe [mõuta] ‘moon’ as little, you would say [mõutɛsd] ‘little moon’.
